2003 Newell Vineyards Pour Deux Cabernet Sauvignon

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Cabernet is from Monterey County and still a quite dark deep red after 10 years.  The nose is black sloe with hints of black pepper, candied apple and esters.  The palate shows a full bodied red with sweet round fruit and very firm tannin that is long and lovely.  This could go even more years but let’s drink it now.

2010 Joel Gott Alakai

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This wine is a lovely Rhone style blend from Napa with mostly Grenache with some Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Petite Sirah.  The color is a lovely medium ruby red with an expressive nose of blackberry, black pepper and anise.  The mouth feel is full to medium fruit forward with a lively acidic mid pallet and smooth tannic finish.  I could drink a lot of this.

2011 Orin Swift Cellars Abstract

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

Here at the Oregon Wine Geeks we just tend to love Orin Swift's wines.  This year’s Abstract is no exception a dark red blend with big black fruit, fig, black olive, and chestnuts on the nose.  This is a high alcohol offering at 15.2% but it doesn't feel overwhelming.  The mouth feel is full bodied with a large fruit that is present throughout the tasting with a numbing tannic finish which is lasting and wonderful.  This year’s blend is Grenache, Petite Sirah, and Syrah from Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino.

2009 Todd Taylor Tempranillo

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Tempranillo from Holland Landing in Clarksburg is a dark ruby and slightly translucent.  The nose is anise, caramel, boysenberry, and esters.  The palate shows a round fruit quite sweet with an acidic balanced middle.  The finish is tannic as a young Tempranillo should be long lasting and numbing.  This should be lovely with rich foods.
