2002 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

Nose is red fruit, currant and loam.  The taste is tangy with a rather tart but long finish.  This is the big california cabernet at its best.  Though a fine drink it is over priced for its quality.  The Beringer private reserve of the same vintage is a far better Cabernet and is $20 less expensive.

2002 Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

A rich red wine very dark in color, the nose is rather closed, fruit and herbal traits.  The taste is smooth sweet fruit up front, the middle is lacking but a firm tannin finish is long lasting.  As Cabernets from 2002 go this one is slightly too tart with a somewhat bitter tannin.  You should drink it now if you have it as this wines tannins are stronger than the fruit already.

2002 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

The color denotes a well aged wine a lovely scarlet to purple.  The nose is black and red fruit with a touch of loam.  The taste is sweet smoothness with complexity of fruit, tannins and oak.  The finish is long full of tannins.  This is the best Californian cab Iíve had in awhile.  Itís crisp, memorable and well crafted.  I also like that it comes in half bottles.  This is one of my favorite Cabs if you can still find it give this wine a try.

2003 WhiteHall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This cabernet has a nice dark color with an oily quality that suggests a firm to heavy body.  Interesting nose floral, nutty with subtle fruit hint.  The taste is subdued at first then bursts forth  to a nice dry finish.  Itís different than the normal napa valley Cabernet.  Complex and odd I like it.  It went excellent with heavy cream pasta nd should be good with beef and pork.  I think Iíll look for a reserve label.

2004 Beaulieu Vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

A nice full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon.  Dark red to violet in color.  The nose is slight with a medicinal odor that reminds me of smoke.  Taste dry and tangy, fruit is subdued under the acidic tang with a mild finish.  Pretty standard big Cabernet from Napa Valley.  This is a good wine but I feel the same qualities could be found for less money.  The Columbia Crest reserve of the same vintage was better at half the price.

2004 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five Stags Leap District

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

I had a half bottle of this fine cabernet (2004), at Jacksonville Inn with a dinner of prime rib and Oregon coastal mushrooms.  It was excellent with a fine nose of black cherry and loam.  The taste is fruit up front with a tannins flavored long finish it holds it own against a fine meal.  The taste is blackberry, and long oak and cabernet tannins.  You can taste oak barrels and age canít imagine how this wine would not get better and better with age.

I had another bottle of it at Peterson Steak House in Indianapolis the September with Filet Mignon.  This wine was as before but I did notice how much it changes with steak.  The meat brings out the flavor of the wine in wonderful and exceptional ways.  It sweetens the tannins and fruit and creates a totally new effect.  This wine stands well on its own but with fine beef is an outstanding offering

2005 Bernardus Chardonnay

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

Highly Rated Chardonnay from the Carmel area. Vanilla nose with a hint of citrus, golden colored but not fruity.  Dry taste with acid fine finish.  Excellent paring for cheese and a light pasta in a butter and wine sauce.  Brought out the flavor of seafood as well as cheese, chocolate, and pasta.  Best chardonnay of 2008 for me so far.

Nose is citrus light fruit flavor, full body on the taste with a firm body on the medium size. Long lasting finish.A medicinal middle takes away from the over all taste. The fruit is subdued which is a plus asthe finish is exceptional. Almost there.

Complex layering, Straw colored with melon and pear fruity flavor not over powering.  Long stong finish.  The Nose promises fruit but with enough acid to layer the flavors well.
