2010 Joel Gott Alakai

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This wine is a lovely Rhone style blend from Napa with mostly Grenache with some Syrah, MourvŤdre, and Petite Sirah.  The color is a lovely medium ruby red with an expressive nose of blackberry, black pepper and anise.  The mouth feel is full to medium fruit forward with a lively acidic mid pallet and smooth tannic finish.  I could drink a lot of this.

2011 Orin Swift Cellars Abstract

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

Here at the Oregon Wine Geeks we just tend to love Orin Swift's wines.  This yearís Abstract is no exception a dark red blend with big black fruit, fig, black olive, and chestnuts on the nose.  This is a high alcohol offering at 15.2% but it doesn't feel overwhelming.  The mouth feel is full bodied with a large fruit that is present throughout the tasting with a numbing tannic finish which is lasting and wonderful.  This yearís blend is Grenache, Petite Sirah, and Syrah from Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino.

2009 Todd Taylor Tempranillo

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Tempranillo from Holland Landing in Clarksburg is a dark ruby and slightly translucent.  The nose is anise, caramel, boysenberry, and esters.  The palate shows a round fruit quite sweet with an acidic balanced middle.  The finish is tannic as a young Tempranillo should be long lasting and numbing.  This should be lovely with rich foods.

2010 Todd Taylor Cabernet Franc Alphawolf Ranch

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This is big wine coming in at 14% alcohol and absolutely black cherry red.  This is a dense cab franc with a nose of dark fruit, lavender floral hints, loam, cardamom, vanilla.  This is a big fruit forward wine with a full mouth feel.  The fruit is sweet and lasts throughout the tasting.  The wine has a middle that varies with the overall fruit, acid and dances around in your mouth.  The finish is very long and tannic on the palate, really exceptional.  If you can find this drink itís quite the classic.

This is a Central Valley wine which is 90% Grenache, 5% Tempranillo and 5% Syrah. It is a light garnet colored wine with a nose of cherry, black pepper, loam and cloves.  The palate shows a medium bodied wine with a sweet fruit and very balanced structure.  The acid and tannin on the finish are long lasting and very flavorful.  It does remind one of a Spanish Garnacha with wonderful flavors and aromas.
