2006 Bodegas El Nido Clio

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This inky red wine is from Jumillo Spain, it is very dark with a jammy sweet blackberry nose. The taste will grab you with a fruit bomb start, but a structure filled with acidic tannin. Excellent with a bite of dark chocolate, the finish rides out up to 60 seconds.

2002 Penfolds RWT Shiraz Barossa Valley

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This is the upper end of the Penfolds Shiraz line, the wine is inky with a brown cast to it. It has aged well and ready for drinking. The nose is fruit, loam, berry, it is strong and vibrant. The tasting shows a spicy tart fruit and a very long acidic finish with a mellow tannin. It gets better and more open with each moment out of the bottle.

2000 Carpineta Fontalpino Do ut des

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

Very dark Tuscan blend with a vigorous but a fleeting flavor a touch fruit on the tongue, then a tart exceedingly dry finish. The Tannin has taken over in this wine I don't see how it will age any further. It is as good as it will be right now. I'm going to let it breath this evening and see if it improve.

2005 Bollig-lehnert Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Auslese

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

A very sweet German Riesling with a light golden color and acidic nose over a sweet melon nose. The taste is very sweet like a late season dessert wine with barely a middle but another sweet ending. I'd prefer a little more acid on the end but the flavor is very good.

2006 Del Rio Malbec

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

My crew of loafers and I had this with lunch today, and though young is one of the best wines I've had from Southern Oregon recently.  I'm used to Argentine Malbec but this quite representative of the varietal.   The nose is cherry, earth, leather, and blackberry.  The taste is very active with a sweet vibrant fruit, acidic middle and a very firm tannin that will mild over the next couple of years.  This is a 80% Malbec  blend an solid 91, I might hold it a year.

2005 Condado de Haza Ribera Del Duero

> Lookup on Cellar Tracker

This Spanish Tempranillo is in the wine spectator 's top 30 for 2008. The nose is soft loam and fruit. The taste is cherry, and tobacco. The middle is firm with a very tart finish. This will open up more as it breaths and decanting will help. Rich and delightful now will even be better in a few years.
