Tuesday, July 05, 20112001 Oratorio Gigondas Caves des Papes
This is well aged Cotes du Rhone grenache blend with orange tinted garnet color. The nose is a distinct barnyard, black olives, dark cherries and leather. The palate show a soft raspberry fruit, a charging yet supple tannin and acid on the finish. This wine is coming to it's end, the richness fads toward the end of the bottle, time drink it now. No 16778 was the wine SN.

Score: 87
Cost: $ 30

Friday, May 27, 20112004 Domaine Lionnet Cornas Terre Brûlée
Tasty, Strawberry, very reserved nose, might be better after a bit of a decant. But we had at dinner so no chance there. Was a light bodied Cornas well aged, very drinkable. Though too expensive at $52 better Syrah varietals can be had $15 less.

Sunday, May 15, 20112003 Château Haut-Gravet St. Emilion Grand Cru
A dark ruby right bank with a prune barn yard nose, pungent with a hint of black fruit and cassis. In the mouth it is light bodied, sweet fruit in layers through the middle to a very firm tannin finish that is both lengthy and numbing. Great little Bordeaux for the money, drinking well now.

Score: 88
Cost: $ 37

Saturday, April 23, 20112005 Château Guibot La Fourvieille
This is a very nice right bank Bordeaux from a good year. It is Merlot based and has a lot of backbone. It is very dark red to purple with good legs. After letting this breath for only a few minutes the nose opens up. It show loamy dark earth, black fruit, floral elements and slightly dusty cedar. In the mouth it is full bodied, a nice fruit with a tannic finish. Very drinkable yet predictable right bank St. Emilion Bordeaux. 88, a drinkable, reasonably priced Bordeaux.

This Bandol which is mostly Mourvèdre is tasty with a slightly barnyard nose, prune, and rasin. The taste is tart, cranberry with a odd tannin finish. I would not recommend this bandol though it does not seem shocked or corked
